​Preservation of an ancient way of life

The Baduy or Kanekes are a traditional Sundanese community who live in Lebak Regency of Banten Province. The origin of the name "Baduy" is unknown, it  may have comes from the name of the Baduy River or from Dutch researchers. The group prefers to call themselves the Kanekes people. They speak a dialect of the Sundanese language.
