Women's Rally in Miami 1-21-2017
My emotions were running high, overwhelm with sadness not being able to take sand with my sisters in Washington on January 21, 2017. Miami will do, I said to my self, but once I found myself immersed in the warmth of brave and courageous humans of all gender, I realized no matter where you are, we are all standing together as one, sharing the same energy and voice in one harmony. To paraphrase Madonna, sadly it took something fucked up to bring us all together, however the great mobilization of humans in all the marches across the world shows that we will not tolerate more hate.
I couldn’t even fathom the difficulties our predecessors went through to give us our civil liberty, but with the same notion it feels as though we are still protesting over some of the same issues from decades ago, and that is beyond frustrating.
“We will not be silent.” I hope this momentum does not fizzle out and this is not just a ‘moment of out burst frustration’. The optimist in me is confidently saying we are not only taking a stand within the first 100 days of his presidency to preserve all the positive changes president Obama has made in the last 8 years, but to continue to positively make more changes for Women, LGBTQ, Muslims, Black lives, Immigrants…
